This Cargo Vehicle’s Container Lowers to Ground Level, Lifts to Accommodate Ramps, and Is Interchangeable

If you’re in the business of cargo transport and love efficiency and saving time and money, then you should be all ears right now. This is the Ruthmann Cargoloader, a smart cargo transport concept designed to safely and efficiently transport goods over short to medium distances with frequent loading and unloading.

Developed by German aerial platform manufacturer Ruthmann Holdings GmbH in 2008, the Ruthmann Cargoloader’s whole cargo area/container can be lowered to ground level and can be seamlessly raised to accommodate loading ramps and steps up to 1.6 meters in height. This eliminates the nuisance of having to deal with tail lifts and saves almost 50% more time!

Its interchangeable cargo area allows you to easily switch the containers out, so with just one vehicle, you can take on an array of jobs – from transporting trash in the morning to bringing catered refrigerated food to a convention to dropping off packages or supplies in the evening. While they operate like traditional delivery trucks in a sense, the Ruthmann Cargoloader’s design is so versatile that it can also be applied to an ambulance, fire engine, and large cargo vehicles. While it hasn’t gone into mass production yet, the Ruthmann Cargoloader can really change the game and the efficiency of a company.

There are several models of the Ruthmann Cargoloader. The RCP 50.1 has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 5 t. Payloads of up to 2,230 kg can be efficiently transported and loaded/unloaded. (The GVW can also be reduced to 3.5 t.)  Food and beverages can easily be transported using the new interchangeable system. The RCP 50.1 be legally driven by anyone with a valid class B driver’s license.

The RCP 75 has a load capacity of 3,260 kg and a GVW of 7,490 kg, where any type of item imaginable can be safely transported especially industrial goods. The RCP 75 is also efficient when transporting obese patients because of its ground-level accessibility. The RCP 75 can be driven with a class 3/C1 driver’s license.

The RCP 155.1 and RCPT 155 are ideal for transporting heavy machinery and equipment – thanks to their extremely low-lying floor.
