This Military Robot Dog Makes Soldiers Obsolete

Meet the Ghost Robotic Dog, a genius four-legged military robotic dog that is protecting the homeland and saving human and real canine’s lives – one perfectly calculated step at a time! And it doesn’t bark! Created by Philadelphia-based Ghost Robotics, this innovative robotic dog is also known as the VISION 60 Q-UGV 5th. It’s a mid-sized high-endurance, dexterous, and robust all-weather ground drone that’s used for defense, homeland, and enterprise applications.

It weighs 45.4 kg, reaches a top speed of 3 m/s, and reaches a maximum distance of 12.6km with a maximum power runtime of three hours. It has a maximum payload of 9 kg and it can be assembled and disassembled in just 15 minutes!

Reminiscent of the ferocious robot dog in the popular Netflix series, “Black Mirror,” this agile creature gets the job done! And like that creepy robotic “canine” character, it too can shoot bullets like a sniper! Impressively, the Ghost Robotic Dog can tackle any type of terrain and get to hard-to-reach destinations. If it slips, falls, or gets toppled over it can get itself back up. No rough urban and natural environment is off-limits! It’s on a mission to go where a typical wheeled or tracked device cannot. This little techie beast carries sensors, mesh communications, and manipulators for a range of data collection, intelligence, security, asset protection, and military-specific uses.

These Ghost Robotic Dogs or Q-UGVs use a proprietary blind-mode control core that mimics how mammals easily adapt to new environments. The U.S. Airforce has utilized these mini powerhouses thanks to Ghost Robotics. They have been used for surveillance, patrolling parameters, mapping missions, conducting remote inspections, detecting fires, and even setting off ambushes! While the Ghost Robotic Dog can be submerged in 1.5 meters of water, Ghost Robotics’ ultimate goal is to perfect these ground warriors’ ability to walk, run, crawl, climb, and with time swim in more complex environments.
