This Mini Wind Turbine Charges Handheld Devices Wherever the Wind Blows

Assemble in two minutes. Plug in your handheld electronic device. Then let the wind do the rest! These are the simple steps needed to use the genius Shine Turbine, a mini on-the-go wind turbine that can charge an iPhone, tablet, speakers, lights, a camera, or GPS.  Weighing only three pounds, or 1.3kg, this impressive little invention can easily fit inside your backpack or camping gear. Its compact size is comparable to a water bottle. Who knew renewable energy off-grid could be so lightweight, easy, portable – and reliable!

So how does this clever little contraption work? It starts with the wind of course, which allows air to flow over the turbine body. The yaw allows the turbine to automatically turn into the wind, and the wind causes the blades to automatically spin. Electronic devices charge when the USB cord is connected to the mini wind turbine. When a device isn’t connected, the mini wind turbine’s batteries charge. According to the Canadian-based start-up, Shine, the Shine Turbine, patent-pending technology creates energy faster than any other renewable product.

When folded, the Shine Turbine’s length is 13.8 inches (35cm), its width is 3.9 inches (10cm), and its blade diameter is 23.6 inches (60cm). When mounted, its height is 3 feet (91.4cm). The Shine Turbine comes in a neat little package. It’s fully collapsed with the mount, pegs, and reflective guy-wires stored inside. Its power rating is 40 watts, and its internal battery is 5 V, 12,000 mAh.  This mini renewable energy powerhouse has a wind speed range of 8-28mph. In translation, you can get three phones worth of power in just an hour at 28 mph, or 45 kph winds. Its weather resistance is IP54 and its temperature range is from 0 to 40 degrees Celsius. Plus, it has an LED indicator that reads its battery life and temperature.

So, when you’re camping, hiking off of the beaten path, or stranded without power, you know you can trust Shine’s innovative technology and Mother Nature to give you the charge you need. In the words of the clever Shine creators – “power your adventures with the wind!”
