This Customizable DIY Ice Rink Is Perfect for Backyard Hockey Games and Ice-skating

This is the EZ ICE Pro Home Arena System, a customizable DIY ice rink for hockey games and ice-skating right in the comfort of your own backyard! This hockey and ice-skating enthusiasts’ dream has an innovative design where it can be assembled and disassembled in just an hour! Plus, it can be done without any tools – thanks to its bracket and strap system that allows the parts to click together!

Created by Dylan Gastel, founder of the Newton, Massachusetts-based company, EZ ICE, this impressive home area system was the perfect solution for families when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and commercial ice rinks had to temporarily close down.

EZ ICE can also be set up on any surface, including lawns, parking lots, basketball and tennis courts, patios, driveways, and fields! It doesn’t matter if your lawn has frozen solid – as many New England and Canadian families can relate!

The dimensions of the rink can be increased or decreased in increments of five feet. Starting at a super-small 5ft x 5ft rink, then all the way up to the XXL Rink, which is a huge 60×100 feet rink. That’s more than half the size of a professional hockey rink!

When filling up the water – from a hose or a water supply company, a proprietary strap system assists in evening out liquid distribution across the playing surface (compensating for any angle up to 1 foot) and level weight on both sides. It’s made with a white liner to reflect sunlight and keep the water frozen throughout the winter.  Plus, it helps protect the surface underneath.

A hockey player since childhood, Gastel constructed makeshift backyard rinks with his Dad using plywood, drills, and saws. However, with time and wear and tear, the wood ends up rotting and you have to rebuild it. So, Gastel came up with a better solution – and so many families have been on board! Currently, EZ ICE has customers in 41 U.S. states, every Canadian province, and 15 countries across the globe.
