Meet the World’s First E-Snowbike Eco-Designed in the Alps

Meet the E-Trace, an e-snowbike by a French start-up named Arosno and eco-designed in the heart of the Alps! It meets you halfway between a playful sled and an exercise-inducing mountain bike to explore beautiful white powdery terrain. This eco-friendly leisure e-snow bike doesn’t require a dedicated infrastructure. Instead, the E-Trace will gently and quietly roll on all tracks, including forest roads, undergrowth, walking areas, etc. Basically, on all the hiking and walking tracks intended for pedestrians and snowshoes.

The rider’s pedaling effort is amplified with an electric assistance of a 250-watt motor. It offers assistance up to 16 mph, or 25 km/h. It’s equipped with a 48-volt removable lithium battery that will last up to 28 miles or 45 km per charge.

The E-Trace has been compared to a “recumbent electric-assist tricycle,” but rather than wheels, it’s equipped with “two steerable polyethylene skis in front and a Camso snowmobile-style rubber track in the back.” Pedaling conjures the spinning up of a rear sprocket wheel through a chain that’s routed through the E-Trace’s aluminum alloy frame. That sprocket engages the track, causing it to turn. As a result, it moves the vehicle forward.

Its user size and weight are 145 to 200 cm and 120 kg maximum. You can adjust the seat in just 10 seconds. The E-Trace’s outer dimensions are 1930 mm or 76 inches in length, 920 mm or 36 inches in width, and 1038 mm or 41 inches in height. Its frame has a 5-year and its parts have a one-year warranty.

While the E-Trace is a bike, it does not have reverse gear. However, the turning radius is very short. While on a descending slope, the rider doesn’t need to pedal. Like any bicycle, the E-Trace has a freewheel. The caterpillar rolls naturally on the snow. E-trace can trek up to a 30% slope but again is comparable to a bike – as it’s contingent upon the terrain, the amount of snow, and your physical condition. It’s equipped with a robust disc brake with powerful braking technology that is comparable to that of snowmobiles. It’s the perfect e-snowbike to enjoy that Winter Wonderland!
