Urban Rigger: Floating Student Housing From Shipping Containers

This is the Urban Rigger, a shipping container housing unit for students that is versatile, energy-efficient, and mobile. This innovative concept can easily be assembled into floating apartment blocks in various sizes. The Urban Rigger was created as a solution for affordable housing for students in Copenhagen, where there is an abundance of waterways – from unused quays across the harbors to canals, and rivers. Currently, there is a “fully functional floating village” consisting of 72 apartments.
